Feminine Leadership Paradigm #5: Resource Obtaining vs. Sharing

October 1st, 2012

The fifth paradigm of feminine leadership is the idea of resource sharing over resource obtaining. This is where we play a game that everyone can win instead of having clear winners and losers.

There are global ramifications to our obsession with obtaining more. Our U.S. population makes up about 5 percent of the population of the world, yet consumes about 40 percent of its resources and 24 percent of the world’s energy.

Contributor Cultuer_Feminine Leadership_Jennifer RusselelWe have this obsession with creating a lot of waste and using up a lot of these resources. We throw out 200,000 tons of edible food daily. We’re reaching a crisis point where we need to have focus on sharing these resources rather just on obtaining and using them wisely.

Create an environment where sharing means everyone wins

Instead of creating a system where we are obtaining resources and focusing on having more and more, let’s make it a game where everyone wins by sharing what we have  and creating a culture of contribution.

Sharing resources is the ultimate strategy for sustainability, and until we, as a society, make the shift from resources obtaining to resource sharing, we will be playing a game that only the few will win.
